One person has died and several others were hurt after a multi-vehicle crash on a busy freeway in central Phoenix early Tuesday afternoon.
The collision happened around 12:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 just north of the Camelback Road overpass. At least three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a commercial flatbed truck and two SUVs.

Video from the AZFamily news chopper showed that the two SUVs were heavily damaged.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said several people were rushed to the hospital, where one later died. No names have been released.
The southbound lanes of I-17 were closed at Camelback Road for over three hours before reopening shortly after 3:30 p.m.
